The Yamaha KT100J is used in Junior and Senior National or "J" classes, the most popular category of racing in Australia, and is a single cylinder, two-stroke, piston valve engine. It uses oil-in-fuel lubrication and capacitor discharge ignition for its single vertical cylinder.
The Yamaha KT100S is used in Junior and Senior Clubman or "S" classes, the second most popular category of racing in Australia and often considered the stepping stone to higher levels of motor sport. The KT100S is a single cylinder, two-stroke, piston valve engine with oil-in-fuel lubrication and transistor control ignition. The cylinder is forward inclined.

The FR125 Max is a 28bhp single cylinder, two-stroke, reed valve engine with oil-in-fuel lubrication, liquid cooling and digital battery ignition. It has an electric starter and dry centrifugal clutch. Formula Rotax has been developed to fill the gap between entry level racing classes and top echelon racing, and is seen as a class for expert Karters who require high performance and low maintenance, without the high level of technical expertise of the top level racing formulas.
